London, 8 September 2008
Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser, has appointed Nicola James as a Consultant in its London-based Strategic Risk Practice. Ms James will work with clients’ senior management teams globally to ensure that risk management is being used as an effective decision-making tool and helping them to achieve their organisations’ business objectives.
Ms James recently completed the two-year Marsh Graduate Programme, which included tenures in the Property Placement Practice in Zurich and the Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions team in London. A first-class honours graduate in Business Administration from the University of Glasgow, Ms James was awarded the ‘Outstanding Academic Achievement’ award in the Marsh Graduate Programme’s 2008 roll of honour.
Commenting on Ms James’s appointment, Stephen Roberts, Leader of the Strategic Risk Practice, said: “More than ever, organisations are turning to risk management to ensure that they have a clear line of sight on where resources and capital need to be deployed to effectively protect their commercial success. Marsh is resourcing accordingly and Nicola will play a central role in helping clients realise the benefits that strategic risk management can bring to their organisations.”
Nicola James added: “Marsh’s Graduate Programme has refined my business skills and developed my understanding of how, if well managed, risk can create opportunity, protect market share and help organisations to grow.”
Marsh’s Strategic Risk Practice identifies and analyses risks relating to clients’ organisations, specific initiatives, projects and decisions, as well as those risks which could have an impact on strategic objectives. It also helps firms develop, implement and audit risk management strategies and processes to meet their goals.
